Ceiling Height
Measure the height of your warehouse ceiling. Ensure there’s enough clearance for the tallest pallet rack, including any additional height from pallets and forklifts.
Pallet Size and Load
Consider the height of your pallets and the items stored on them. Ensure the upright height accommodates the tallest load with some extra space for safe handling.
Forklift Reach
Check the maximum reach of your forklifts. Upright height should stay within the operational range of your equipment for efficient loading and unloading.

How Teardrop Uprights Connect
The upright column has a row of teardrop-shaped punch-outs running its height. The beam end is shaped with a hooked pin that slides into one of these slots — weight from the pallet load pulls the hook down and inward, tightening the connection rather than loosening it. No bolts, welding, or extra hardware needed for a standard installation. A safety clip then locks over the connector to prevent it from being lifted back out accidentally.

Teardrop Beams
These uprights use the standard teardrop slot pattern and are compatible with New Teardrop Beams and most other teardrop-style beams, including many other manufacturers’ teardrop racking.
Base & Seismic Plates
Bolt-on seismic foot plates are available on request where local seismic requirements call for thicker gauge steel, larger base plates, or modified anchoring.
Mixing With Existing Racks
Teardrop connector dimensions are consistent across most manufacturers using the style, but slot spacing can vary slightly by brand. Confirm your existing beam’s connector pattern before ordering new uprights to avoid a mismatch.

Teardrop Upright Buying Guidelines

Calculating Upright Height
1. Determine pallet height — measure the height of your tallest pallet load.
2. Add beam height — include the height of the beams that will support the pallets.
3. Include clearance — add a safety clearance of at least 6 inches between the top of the load and the next beam level.
4. Total height — sum these measurements for the height required per level, then multiply by the number of levels.
Example: 48″ pallet height + 4″ beam height + 6″ clearance = 58 inches per level. Across 4 levels: 58 × 4 = 232 inches total upright height.
