To tell selective rack apart, look at the slots punched up the front of an upright. Teardrop-shaped slots mean teardrop rack. Keystone-shaped slots mean keystone, also called Republic rack. Beams bolted to heavy C-channel uprights mean structural rack. Cantilever has no front columns at all: arms reach out from a row of towers.

Teardrop and keystone parts do not mix, so when you add to a system, match the style you already have. Not sure what you have? Send us a photo of an upright and a beam end and we will identify it.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix teardrop and keystone parts?
No. Teardrop and keystone uprights use different slot shapes, so their beams are not interchangeable. Match new parts to the style you already have.
Is keystone rack the same as Republic rack?
Yes. Republic racking is another name for keystone-style racking.
Which type should I choose for a new warehouse?
Teardrop is the usual choice for a new system: it is the most common style and has the widest range of compatible parts. Structural is chosen where rack takes hard use, such as heavy loads, busy forklift aisles and drive-in layouts. Cantilever is for items too long for pallet rack.
Which is quickest to get?
Standard keystone sizes and most cantilever parts ship within 48 hours, and standard teardrop sizes are in stock. Structural rack is made to order.
Do you sell used versions?
Yes, when we have them. Used teardrop, keystone, structural and cantilever rack from buybacks and liquidations is listed on our used pages, inspected before sale.
